Seasons of Hope. When the lights are dimmed and the spotlight hits the runway at the Hurst Conference Center of the Community Enrichment Center’s Seasons of Hope Style Show on Nov. 9, prepare to be entertained.

Longtime fashion expert extraordinaire Susan Huston is the coordinator and producer of this year’s show. Since 1971, Susan Huston Fashion Concepts has been synonymous with style and grace.

The event sponsor is North East Mall, and Huston is excited about the many stores that will provide items for the show. You will see lots of faux fur trim, leather, boots and booties for fall, and there’s a ’70s vibe in a lot of fall fashion, Huston said.

Professional models, along with community volunteers on the runway wearing fall and holiday styles chosen by Huston, will be a hit with the audience.

Holiday looks have a lot of feminine touches like lace, ribbons and ruffles. There’s a lot of shine, too, and pendant necklace sand bold jewelry looks, Huston said. I like my shows to feature clothing for the model look and for real people too, and you’ll see all body types in this fun show.

The honorary chair-woman is Roxann Taylor with help from Carolyn Sims, Debbie Clinton, Elsie Gunter and a large committee working to present an auction and raffle full of wonderful items. Spa packages, sports memorabilia and a shopping spree will keep the bidding hot. The keynote speaker is Janine Latus, bestselling author of If I am Missing or Dead. Latus will tell the touching story of her sister’s brutal death at the hands of an abuser, as well as her own story of survival. The event benefits the center’s Open Arms Program by providing long-term housing and care for women and children fleeing domestic violence and helping them transition to a safe, healthy life.
